Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialised massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, promoting the efficient flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. This gentle, rhythmic massage involves light, precise strokes that encourage the natural movement of lymph, a key component of the immune system. Therapists use specific hand movements to redirect lymphatic fluid, targeting areas with congestion or swelling.

The primary goal of MLD is to reduce oedema and enhance the body’s ability to eliminate toxins and waste products. It’s particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with lymphedema, post-surgical swelling, or conditions affecting the lymphatic system.

Clients often find MLD to be a deeply relaxing experience. Beyond its physical benefits, the therapy contributes to immune system support, stress reduction, and improved overall well-being. MLD is commonly incorporated into post-surgery recovery plans, aiding in the reduction of swelling and promoting tissue healing.

Manual Lymphatic Massage is currently only incorporated with Myofascial Release as Lyn has only recently

embarked on her training and is at the foundation level.
