The Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) technique is very different to that of a deep tissue massage as it is a non-invasive, gentle but firm technique that works on the superficial (in-direct approach) and deeper fascia (Direct approach – IMFT) to release restrictions. Sustained pressure incorporating some trigger point work is applied to the fascia without oils until a release is felt and the tissue becomes softer and more pliable.
As a MFR therapist we are trained to find the pain and look elsewhere for the cause. In treating the whole body we release the overall tension physically and emotionally. We are treating the body naturally, without force improving posture, increased range off motion, structural imbalances and “stuckness”.
It is a fluid-filled, 3 dimensional web of connective tissue that comprises of collagen and elastin fibres that spreads throughout the whole body from head to toe without interruption. In its normal state fascia is relaxed and glides with the ability to stretch and move without restriction between every single cell of the body.
Trauma, injury and inflammation causes the fascia to lay down thicker fibrous tissue and over time it becomes hard and can become a source of tension and stiffness.
MFR allows us to look at each person as a unique individual. As fascial restrictions do not show up on CAT scans, MRIs or X-rays many people are suffering unresolved physical and emotional chronic pain.
MFR with its whole body approach treats the cause at the deepest level.
MFR can help with many conditions, including:
Normally at the end of the week I'm as stiff as a board but this time after Lyn’s MFR treatment I felt great. Will be testing my legs out again tomorrow. I shall definitely be back and have already started spreading the word!
